Members of Healthy Air Leicester and Leicestershire attended Greenlight Festival, Leicester's festival of sustainable living. We had a stall with posters and leaflets explaining how air pollution is measured and how it affects people's health. We invited people to sign up to our email list and we took photos of those who wanted to support our campaign.
In the afternoon, we hosted a workshop about air pollution, to raise awareness and to tell people about our campaign. Three chemistry students from the University of Leicester came along to help and they gave a fantastic presentation about the chemical composition of air pollution and the instruments that they use to monitor it. They also stayed to answer questions, which was fortunate because some people had very technical queries! Afterwards, we discussed how we might campaign to influence policy-makers and reduce air pollution.
