Air pollution in Leicester and Leicestershire
Leicester City has an Air Quality Management Area, that is, an area of the city where the levels of pollution are higher than the recommended government objectives. You can find a map of this area and the City Council's Air Quality Action Plan on their website. You can also download monitoring data for Leicester (and other cities) from Defra's website. The City Council has already breached the time extension they were given for reducing the level of air pollution and they are in danger of being fined by the European Union.
The University of Leicester have mapped the air pollution in the city from a plane and the results were reported on the BBC website on 3rd July 2013 and reported on ITV.
